Day 200!
Hey, look at that. 200 days. Only 165 to go.
A note about today’s photo. Yesterday, I found this bench in the trees along a path. I really liked the scene, and took a few pictures. It was yesterday’s shot. The problem was, I didn’t really get what I wanted out of it. I wasn’t able to express how I saw the scene. There was a lonely feeling to the place. It was somewhere you went to think about life, to wonder where things went wrong. The bench was central to it.
The way the light was, it was hard to pull the bench out. It blends in too much. Also, making it completely black and white didn’t do it enough favors. The whole feel of it was off.
I went back today to shoot it again, and the light was softer, less harsh shadows to hide the bench in. I took several shots, and then started working on the black and white. After a while, I decided to try it in color, albeit stilted colors. As soon as I got working in that, it came together much better.
I don’t know if this is quite it. I may have to go back again. Perhaps to shoot the scene. Or maybe to sit on that bench for a bit.
